Alpine Park: Connected with family and nature
A village centre with groceries and services, along with condominium-style residential will be at the heart of the community.
With two growing boys, and full-time work-from-home jobs, Faizul Mohamed and his wife, Shafiqa Banu, knew that they needed more space than their laned starter home in Calgary’s southeast community of Copperfield could offer.
“We’d been thinking of buying a bigger home for a while, but when the market started to get crazy in January, we decided that we just couldn’t wait any longer. We had to make a move,” recalls Faizul.
The family began touring new communities in the southeast and southwest part of the city, looking for their dream home, but came up empty. They had a very clear idea of how they wanted to live and very few communities offered what they wanted on their must-have list.
“We definitely wanted something that was not front-garage. We’re not the type of people who close our blinds all day. We like to communicate; we like to talk to the neighbours,” says Faizul, who moved the family from India in 2014, choosing Calgary for its work opportunities and its big, blue skies and sunshine.
As fate would have it, a family friend, who was also in the market for a new home, had toured the new community of Alpine Park in Calgary’s southwest, on the perimeter of the new ring road bordering 37th Street S.W. and the community of Evergreen and he suggested the family take a look.
