Alpine Park unlocks Calgary’s new west

Alpine Park is set to introduce an ambitious next-generation community that will provide a dramatically improved lifestyle to Calgarians both inside and outside the home. Located west of Evergreen across from the new ring road, the 476-acre neighbourhood offers unparalleled access to the city and mountains. Its “New Urbanist” form is by renowned urban designers HDR|Calthorpe and focuses on a people-first concept that encourages strong, socially connected streetscapes. “Two major Stoney Trail interchanges radically shorten drive times, but what differentiates Alpine is the consideration placed into getting people out of their cars once they arrive — how fundamentally walkable everything is,” says Tara Steell, general manager of land for developer Dream. Alpine Park distils the very elements that make Calgary unique, melding mountain, prairie and urban influences, with topography that enables city and mountain views from parks and carefully oriented roadways.     “You’re 17 minutes from downtown, yet 35 minutes to a riverside campsite in Kananaskis. It’s the difference between weekend trips and weekdays in the wilderness,” says Michael Tandara, Dream’s director of marketing for Western Canada. Interconnected green space and trails are right outside your door, with many homes fronting parks directly, and most residents can walk to the upcoming Village Centre, a retail hub featuring curated shops and essentials, in eight minutes or less. The community’s parks were designed with Civitas, known for its work on St. Patrick’s Island, and are enhanced with features like a community hearth and gardens, picnic areas and wood playgrounds.   “If you think of homes we see in movies, television, that charming idea of porches and holiday lights is what we yearn for,” Tandara says. Calbridge, Cardel, Genesis and Homes by Dream will initially offer detached homes and townhomes in curated styles blending Calgary’s natural and architectural history, with modern contemporary, urban mountain, modern prairie, Craftsman, farmhouse and châteauesque designs.

Alpine Park will be revealed this September. For more details, go to alpinepark.ca.
