Closure for Remembrance Day

In recognition and respect for Remembrance Day, our Showhome Neighbourhood will be closed this November 11th.

No matter where we’re from, or how long we’ve been here, we enjoy remarkable freedoms as Canadians. So for this Remembrance Day and for those to come, we encourage everyone to take part in honoring the sacrifices of the many before us.

Calgary’s military history is a proud one, with regiments like the 1st Battalion, The Calgary Highlanders, CASF taking a substantial role in WWII in battles like Dieppe, or the many forgotten First Nations, Inuit and Metis who bravely answered the call of duty and serving in uniform.

So this Remembrance Day, try to find an event and take part safely. No matter where you are, at 11:00 am please take a moment and observe two minutes of silence. It’s a humbling reminder of things we often take for granted.

For those looking for other ways to take part, one of the most iconic such ceremonies is held by The Military Museums along Crowchild Trail, and this year in accordance with current Provincial Health measures the outdoor ceremony will return. For more information, please visit themilitarymuseums.ca. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can also take part in their virtual event live-streamed from The Military Museums’ Facebook page here.

Lest we forget.
